Devi Putrudu is a 2001 Telugu fantasy-drama directed by Kodi Ramakrishna. The story begins thousands of years after the ancient city of Dwaraka was swallowed by the sea. Krishna, a petty thief from Mumbai, unexpectedly becomes part of a mystical adventure when he meets Satyavathi, a woman visiting India to see her sister Karuna, who is connected to an underwater archaeological site. Krishna drives Satyavathi around and together they reach Dwaraka, where they encounter Paapa, a mysterious young girl with supernatural powers. Paapa helps Krishna understand Karuna’s mysterious disappearance and the dangerous forces surrounding an ancient metal box discovered underwater by Karuna’s husband Balaram, an archaeologist. Balaram finds an ancient treasure that holds immense power, which evil mercenaries seek to misuse. After Balaram's betrayal and death, Krishna vows to rescue Karuna and protect the hidden secrets. With Paapa’s guidance and bravery, Krishna faces many challenges and fights the bad guys to return the treasure chest to its rightful place, preventing disaster. The blends fantasy, adventure, and drama. Supernatural abilities and aspects of Indian mythology are also present in the story. Paapa's spiritual blessing, which signifies the continuity of heavenly protection, marks the happy ending as Krishna and Satyavathi welcome their child.
