Udanpaal is a story about a brother and sister who don't have much money. They come up with a plan to get their lives in order by using their father's death. The movie starts with Parama (Linga) asking his sister Kanmani (Gayathrie) and her husband Murali (Vivek Prasanna) to come home for their mother's death anniversary. Vinayagam (Charle) is Parama and Kanmani's father. Soon, we find out that the get-together was planned to convince Vinayagam to sell their house so everyone can have a better life. But Vinayagam doesn't like this idea. They also find out that there are some legal problems with the house, so it's not easy to sell. Things change when the brother and sister hear that the building where Vinayagam works has collapsed. The government says they will give a lot of money to the families of people who died. Parama and Kanmani don't even think about what happened to their father. Instead, they start arguing about how to split the money. It gets even funnier when Vinayagam comes back home alive and well. The best part of the movie is that there are more surprises for the people watching, even after this big twist. The characters are written well, and the story is good too. Linga, Gayathrie, Charle, and Vivek Prasanna all act amazingly. KPY Dheena joins the movie in the second half. Udanpaal is definitely a great movie for the whole family, with some surprises and dark humour.
