President Gari Pellam is a Telugu romantic drama directed by A. Kodandarami Reddy. The story revolves around Raja (Nagarjuna), whose brother, Chandraiah (Chandra Mohan), works as a servant for the village's president Devudu (Satyanarayana). Devudu is not very kind to Chandraiah. On the other hand, Raja and Devudu's daughter, Swapna, are constantly at loggerheads, engaging in petty arguments and misunderstandings. But Swapna plans to humiliate Raja. She starts pretending to be in love with him, and once he starts reciprocating, Swapna humiliates him publicly. Deeply hurt, Raja takes a drastic step. Driven by a desire to teach Devudu and Swapna a lesson, Raja challenges Devudu in the forthcoming presidential elections. Not only that, but he also declares that if he wins, he will marry Swapna. At the same time, if he loses, Raja promises to leave the village for good. The villagers support Raja, and he emerges victorious. His victory is celebrated with a rally and he ends up marrying Swapna. The film then explores the consequences of his forced marriage to Swapna and how Raja handles his new position as the town's president. President Gari Pellam beautifully explores the tale of love, revenge and resumption. The narrative blends all the themes and forms an engaging drama.
