In Kerala in the 1980s, a man named Vinayan (Fahadh Faasil) pretends to be a psychiatrist, Dr. Kannan Nair. He goes to a remote mental asylum to find out why patients are killing themselves. The scary hospital is run by Dr. Benjamin Diaz (Atul Kulkarni). In a locked room, they keep Nithya Nair (Sai Pallavi), a woman with autism who is also good at a martial art called Kalaripayattu. She's chained. Vinayan feels drawn to Nithya and starts looking into her past. We see what happened before: in 1977, there was a murder in a palace that involved Nithya's family. After that, her aunt Lakshmi left her with Benjamin. Vinayan thinks that Nithya being locked up is hiding something dark. He becomes friends with her, and he feels like she's not talking because she knows something important. Clues from her sister-in-law Renuka (Leena) and a nun (Leona Lishoy) make Vinayan think that Benjamin is doing experiments with hypnosis. Another man (Prakasam Parameshwara) shows up, saying he's the real Dr. Nair, and tells everyone the truth about Vinayan. Benjamin was involved in the 1977 murder and is keeping Nithya so he can take her inheritance. Vinayan's plan goes wrong when Benjamin catches him. In a very tense ending, Vinayan fights Benjamin and finds out the secrets. Who is Vinayan? Why is he at the asylum? To know the answers, watch the film Anukoni Athidhi.
