Gopi (Kamal Hassan) is a young man from a regular family who doesn't have a job. Vinod (Kamal Hassan) is a rich young man who just came back from another country after his father died. The manager of Vinod's property wants to steal it. He and his men attack Vinod and make him addicted to drugs by giving him shots from a fake doctor. Gopi's girlfriend, Padmini (Radha), and her father, who was a friend of Vinod's father, visit the estate. Padmini is curious and sees Vinod. She realizes he is very sick because of the drugs. Later, Padmini finds out that Gopi and Vinod are twin brothers who were separated when they were born. With the help of a servant in the house, Padmini switches Vinod with Gopi. They send Vinod to his mother's house to get better. Now, Gopi decides that he will save the estate and the property from the estate manager and his helpers, who are trying to steal it. Kamal Hassan plays a dual role. Radha and Sulakshana do the female lead roles. The other actors in the film are Jamuna, KA Thangavelu, VK Ramasamy, Goundamani, Janagaraj, Senthamarai, and Kuyili.
