Subhalekha is a family-oriented film framed with a message about dowry. It is a musically successful jewel in our megastar's crown. Sumalatha is a middle-class girl who is well-educated and beautiful. Her father tries to get her married but cannot meet the demands of a high dowry.Chiru is a graduate who is looking for jobs but is not getting any, so he supports himself by doing small jobs and believes that doing anything is not wrong as long as it is not illegal. The two meet and become friends. Satyanarayana Sudhakar's father (with this film, he became famous as 'Subhalekha' Sudhakar) wants to get his son married to anyone who will give him lakhs of dowry so that he can study as a doctor.Sumalatha, unable to see her father bothering to try to get her married, moves out of her house and stays with Chiru. In the meantime, she develops feelings for him without his knowledge but does not reveal it.The rest of the story revolves around how the youth teach a lesson to the elders who are greedy about selling their educated sons for dowry and how Sumalatha marries the man of her choice. Dr. K. Viswanath is a remarkable director. The screenplay by K Viswanath to treat the motion of the film, makes it stand forever as a guide on addressing social issues without being overly moralistic while still making a strong impact. Chiranjeevi shines in his portrayal of Murthy; Special recognition should go to Sudhakar for his debut performance. Additionally, Sumalatha, the lead actress, is unforgettable.
