Kamal Haasan plays a successful businessman Dileep. He is a humble person in society, but has a dark side too. Dileep traps weak-minded girls, assaults and kills them. The man, who adopted Dileep watches all this and enjoys, he too being a woman hater. They both have a bitter past in regards with women. All the girls killed by Dileep are buried in his garden and a red rose plant is grown on the graves. Sridevi plays the role of a sales girl Sarada, whom Dileep likes. Dileep had to marry Sarada, by her compulsion. Dileep, as a part of his routine traps another girl Chitra and later kills her. A waiter who stands a witness for this blackmails Dileep and demands money. Dileep kills him too. Amidst a series of haunting situations, Sarada gets trapped in a room. She finds Dileep’s life story written on one of the walls in that room. Sarada is frightened and escapes into Dileep’s adoptive father’s room. She finds him watching the videos of Dileep enjoying with other girls and killing them. Sarada escapes from him and locks him up in his room. Sarada escapes from the house and runs for her life. Dileep chases her into a graveyard. He gets hurt on head while chasing Sarada. Police come there and arrest Dileep for his crimes. Dileep forgets his past because of his wound on his head, except Sarada’s memories. Sarada stands with positive hopes, Dileep will get better and come out of the jail and their marriage will be saved.
