In Razakar: The Silent Genocide of Hyderabad, set in 1948, Hyderabad’s people suffer under the Nizam’s rule and the cruel Razakars, a group fighting against joining India. Telangana’s villagers, mostly Hindus, face horrors like forced conversions, attacks, and killings, including the Bhairanpally massacre, where 96 Hindus died. A young villager (Bobby Simha), new to the conflict, joins the fight against the Razakars, led by the harsh Kasim Razvi (Raj Arjun). Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel (Tej Sapru) leads Operation Polo, sending the Indian Army to free Hyderabad. The story shows the bravery of freedom fighters, including Telangana’s peasant uprising, and the pain of women under Razakar violence. Shaanu (Anasuya Bharadwaj), a strong villager, represents the struggle for identity and survival, while Deepu (Vedhika) deals with personal loss in the chaos. The film tells a gripping story of resistance, betrayal, and sacrifice, ending with Hyderabad joining India in September 1948. It shows the heavy cost of the fight for freedom, with ordinary people standing up to cruelty. Though the violence is dark, the movie honours the courage of those who fought, even if some face tragic ends. Razakar highlights the price of independence and the strength of Telangana’s people. Overall, Razakar is an interesting watch.
