Nayaki is about the ghost of a woman named Gayathri (Trisha). Since the 1980s, her spirit has been killing people in a village. The Indian government has even stopped people from entering the village because they keep disappearing. The movie then tells us why Gayathri has haunted this village for 35 years. The movie starts with Gayathri wanting to be a movie star and then killing someone. Then, it shows a director named Sanjay (Satyam Rajesh) meeting his rich future wife at a cafe. He also meets another girl who is not rich, and it turns out he tricked her into falling in love with him. He takes her to an old house with bad intentions. But Gayathri's ghost, who can only be seen on camera, scares them and shows the girl what Sanjay really wants. Then, Gayathri's ghost takes over the girl's body. Sanjay meets the ghost of Gayathri's father, who tells him why Gayathri hates men like Sanjay. Gayathri always dreamed of being an actress like Sridevi. One day, a director treated her badly, but a cameraman named Yogender helped her. He started to make her dreams come true, and she began to like him. But when her father found out that Yogender was a bad person, Yogender attacked and killed Gayathri and her father. However, their spirits survived.
