Raja (Rajinikanth) grew up in a young offenders' prison because he hit his teacher. The teacher wrongly called him a thief just because he was born on a New Moon Day. Raja's father was very superstitious and believed that anyone born on a New Moon Day would become a criminal. When Raja finished his time in prison, he joined a group called the People Welfare Organisation in his local area. He helped people who were in need. Because of his good work, he made some enemies. The rest of the story is about how Raja overcomes his enemies and proves that the bad things people say about him and the superstitions about his birth are wrong. He shows that he is not a criminal just because of the day he was born. Roopini, as Rooba, plays the love interest of Rajinikanth. Srividya plays the role of his mother. Raghuvaran and Vinu Chakravarthy play the bad guys. The other actors in the film include Jai Ganesh, Madhuri, Cho Ramaswamy, Senthil, and Delhi Ganesh. All of them have acted well. Rajinikanth, as usual, treats his fans with style and sentiment. The songs are good. The action scenes are shot well. Overall, Manithan is an action drama you can enjoy watching with your family.
