Kotha Bangaru Lokam is a 2008 Telugu drama. It is a teenage love story between Balu (played by Varun Sandesh) and Swapna (played by Shweta Basu Prasad). While Balu is a carefree, loving son from a middle-class family, Swapna is a disciplined daughter of a strict, affluent father. Both teenagers join the same residential college for their intermediate studies, a crucial phase for their future. Entangled with each other's personalities, they ultimately fall in love. But their young romance takes a drastic turn because of societal norms. Their intimate moments are captured in a photo in a newspaper. Swapna's father sees this and gets furious. He immediately pulls her out of college. This separates the lovers. Both are profoundly affected by this separation. Along with this, Balu also loses his father and struggles to cope with these events. The rest of the film explores the trials and tribulations faced by Balu and Swapna as they try to reunite. The film also explores the differing parenting philosophies of Balu's understanding parents (played by Prakash Raj and Jayasudha) and Swapna's rigid father (Ahuti Prasad). In the end, it’s a journey of self-discovery, resilience, and finding a personal "golden world" while learning essential life lessons.
