Thangaraj (Nassar) is a simple, hardworking man from a middle-class family. His family includes his wife Meenakshi (Khushbu), their daughter Padma, his younger brother Krishnan (Vadivelu), and his youngest brother Sivaraman (Karan). Sivaraman is well-educated and works at the same company as Thangaraj. Valluvardasan (Vijayakumar) owns the company. They all live together in one house. Thangaraj and Meenakshi raised Sivaraman like their own son. The family's finances improve when Sivaraman starts earning well. Valluvardasan is impressed by Sivaraman and wants his daughter Tamilselvi (Roja) to marry him. He likes Thangaraj's close-knit family. Initially, Kanagavalli is unsure about Tamilselvi because she is rich. However, Tamilselvi respects everyone. Over time, Sivaraman's attitude changes. He starts acting like he is the boss because he earns the most money and wants everyone to obey him. His attitude causes a lot of problems in the family.
