Kanupapa is a crime thriller that tells the tale of its protagonist solving a complex murder mystery. The film revolves around Jayaram (Mohanlal), a blind individual working as a lift operator at a posh apartment complex. Even though Jayaram is blind, he has developed incredibly sharp senses of hearing, smell, and touch. These heightened abilities enable him to experience the world uniquely, often picking up on details that others overlook. Being a kind individual, Jayaram is liked by all. The peace of the apartment complex is shattered when Justice Krishnamoorthy (Nedumudi Venu), a retired Supreme Court judge and friend of Jayaram, is murdered. Jayaram is the only witness, but his visual impairment prevents him from identifying the culprit. But he soon becomes the prime suspect and is left to fight to prove his innocence. The plot thickens as Jayaram realizes that the killer, Vasudevan (Samuthirakani), is a cunning and ruthless psychopath with a sinister motive tied to Krishnamoorthy's past. The judge had entrusted Jayaram with the care of his young ward, Nandini (Baby Meenakshi), before his death, making both Jayaram and the child targets. Jayaram has to protect Nandini, find the real murderer, and save himself from the police. The film becomes nail-biting as Jayaram puts his sensory abilities and sharp intellect to use to crack the clues, outsmart the killer, and expose the truth behind the murder. Kanupapa showcases the triumph of an ordinary man's resilience and intelligence in the face of overwhelming odds.
