Indhu is a romantic action film starring Prabhu Deva, Roja and Ponnambalam. Chinnasamy (Prabhu Deva) who is also known as Pattas works as a daily wager working in Pollachi market. Pattas who works along with Chinnasamy drops fish on Indhu (Roja) accidentally. Indhu is a college student. With that, Indhu gets into a fight with them. After several such incidents, Indhu becomes friend with them. From then, she spends a lot of time with them. During a conversation, she tells them that she is rich but her father works abroad. So she is living alone in the hostel. Meanwhile, a rowdy named Veeraiyan (Ponnambalam) threatens the shopkeepers in the market and demand them for money. Veeraiayan brother impregnated Kasi’s (R Sharathkumar) sister. After the wedding, Veeraiyan burned her. Kasi who went to the jail is released. Because of a fight between a local thug and her friends, Indhu gets dismissed from the college. So she goes to her uncle’s house in Madras. The group of friends, Pattas, Peter, Pazhani and Sottai visit her uncle’s house. But her uncle misunderstands them and chases them away. Indhu’s uncle tries to force her into the prostitution. Then her uncle’s colleagues plot plan to sleep with her as they helped Indhu’s uncle. Meanwhile, Indhu runs away from the house. When rowdies attacked those friends, Sattai dies.
