Hidimbha opens with 16 women missing in the city of Hyderabad, panicking the government and the police department. Inspector Abhay (Ashwin Babu) handles the case. He suspects Rangarajan, the head of a hospital. He doubts that Rangarajan is involved in the organ trade. However, his higher officials don’t pay heed to his words. The situation worsens over time. Then Aadhya (Nandita Swetha), an IPS officer from Kerala, is appointed the case’s primary investigating officer. She notices a pattern in this case; that is, women wearing red clothes are the ones who go missing. She comes across some startling facts. She finds out that a father and son are behind these crimes. What is the motive behind the serial killing? Who are the father-and-son duo? How is Aadhya connected to the case? How is the case cracked? Answers to these questions form the rest of the film. Ashwin delivers a commendable performance as a police officer. His physique is impressive, and he looks apt for the role. Nandita Swetha fits the cop role perfectly. Makarand Deshpande and Shiju have performed their roles convincingly. Vikas Badisha’s music saves the film for the most part. The background score is above average and creates an air of suspense to trigger fear. Hidimbha is a decent thriller to watch with family. However, parental control is advised if there are kids below 12 years of age.
