Harkara is a period drama. Kaali (Kaali Venkat) is a newly appointed postman at Eesan Malai, a scenic mountain. He does not like that place and is desperately looking for a transfer. The village is located in a mountain’s higher reaches of the hill, so for many practical reasons, it is disconnected from the rest of the world. Kaali appears frustrated most of the time. What annoys him most is that the villagers use the post office as a bank more than anything else. When he is denied a transfer, he comes up with an idea. Kaali writes a petition on behalf of the villagers asking to close down the post office and open a bank. He gets their thumb impressions on the petition as well. He believes that this petition will get him transferred elsewhere. One day, Kali had to deliver a letter to an elderly woman residing at the highest mountain point. He discovers it is a long trek when he sets off to do his duty. What he encounters during his duty on that day is the crux of the story. The story of Harkara forms the second half of the movie. Kaali Venkat delivers an impressive performance. He just sinks into the role of a postman. Ram Arun Castro plays the Harkara. He showcases a power-packed performance.
