Murugesan (Livingston) is a wealthy but uneducated man in a village. He has loved his cousin Maheshwari (Devayani) since they were kids. Maheshwari likes Murugesan, too, but she wants him to be less innocent and braver. Santhamoorthy (Ponnambalam) is Murugesan's half-brother, and they don't get along. Chinthamani (Vindhya) is a dancer who comes to Murugesan's village. Her mother forces her to be a prostitute. At one instance, Murugesan saves her and lets her stay at his farmhouse. Murugesan and Maheshwari are going to get married. The day before the wedding, Santhamoorthy tries to kill Murugesan, but Murugesan fights back. Murugesan gets drunk and goes to his farmhouse to get weapons to kill Santhamoorthy. Chinthamani, who lives there, tries to stop him. By accident, they end up sleeping together. Murugesan feels guilty and wants to call off his wedding with Maheshwari. But Maheshwari's father (R Sundarajan) convinces him not to. Maheshwari and Chinthamani both become pregnant at the same time. Chinthamani wants to end her pregnancy and goes to an old woman for medicine. But Santhamoorthy tricks her by giving her medicine that will help the baby grow. Chinthamani feels bad that Murugesan's life is in danger because of her. But Murugesan knows it was his fault, too, and takes care of Chinthamani. One day, Maheshwari finds out the truth and fights with Murugesan. To know what happens next, watch the movie.
