Arumugam (Vikram) is a good man from a village where a chemical factory pollutes the river. The villagers want the factory closed and decide to ask their Minister for help. Arumugam, his friend Eswari (Jyothika), and her grandmother go to Chennai to meet him. They stay with Narain (Vivek), who is also from their village. A model named Swapna (Reema Sen) likes Arumugam. Arumugam tells Kaalaipandi about the pollution, and the Minister promises to help. However, Kaalaipandi supports some local thugs, Sornakka and her brother Aadhi. Aadhi tries to hurt Eswari, but Arumugam stops him and hurts Aadhi's hands. Sornakka and Aadhi, with Kaalaipandi's help, kidnap and hurt Arumugam. Kaalaipandi says he won't close the factory.
