Chennai Files: Mudhal Pakkam follows Prabhu (Vetri), the son of a famous crime novelist. He comes to the city to learn more about his father’s work, but soon, a series of strange murders begins to happen. Although Prabhu is not a real detective, growing up with his father's books has given him a very sharp mind for solving puzzles. Prabhu meets Inspector Ramaiya (Thambi Ramaiah), a police officer who is struggling to catch the killer. Since the case is so difficult, Ramaiya decides to team up with Prabhu to use his unique way of thinking. Together, they look for small clues and symbols that other officers might have missed. Swathi (Shilpa Manjunath) joins them. She helps them dig deeper into the investigation. As they travel across the city, the team faces many dangers. Prabhu uses the patterns he learned from his father's stories to understand the killer's motives. The mystery gets more complicated as they interview witnesses and gather evidence.
