





Jyothi (Catherine Tresa) is a schoolteacher who cannot smell, which makes her feel insecure. One day, Jagan (Siddharth) sees her freeing a parrot used for fortune telling and falls in love with her. Jagan confesses his love, but Jyothi ignores him. She tells him she doesn’t want to be a burden to her future husband because she cannot smell. She also reveals that her mother died in a gas explosion when she was young because she couldn't smell the leak. Later, at a temple, Jyothi's sari caught fire, but she couldn't smell it or hear people shouting because of the noise. Luckily, Jagan puts out the fire with milk and tells her she needs someone to protect her. At one instance, Jyothi is hospitalized. In the hospital, Jyothi suddenly regains her sense of smell and is overjoyed. One night, a man named Mahadevan is mysteriously killed. Then, the health minister, Mr. Sanyasa Murthy, who sees Mahadevan's body, is also murdered. Vikram, the minister's brother, and his friends Dinesh and Daniel investigate the murders. Aruvam is a unique horror story. It is scary in parts. The film carries an important social message. If you want to watch a different horror thriller, Aruvam is for you.
