During World War II, bombs fall on Madras. The next morning, a man named Rajan (Sivaji Ganesan) is found dead in his house. He shoots with his own gun. His neighbour hears the shot and tells the police. A police officer, Purushothaman Naidu, comes to investigate. Another police officer from the CID, Sivanandam, joins Naidu. Naidu thinks a thief might have killed Rajan for money. But Sivanandam doesn’t think so because the money found was the same amount Rajan took from the bank. Rajan was planning to leave Madras because of the bombing. The two police officers question five people who knew Rajan. These were mostly his family and friends. First, they talk to Rajan's wife, Usha (Pandari Bai). She is too sad to speak. Next, they question the neighbour. He says Rajan's younger brother, Pattabi, could be the killer. The investigation leads to doubts on different people. How the cops handle the case and close it is narrated in an interesting screenplay. There are many exciting twists and turns in the film. All the actors, including Sivaji Ganesan, have done a tremendous job. The movie keeps the viewers engaged till the end. Overall, Andha Naal is an excellent investigative thriller.
