Anbe Sivam is a beautiful story about two men who have contradicting characters, their past, present, and future. Two men, Sivam (Kamal Hassan), a union worker, and Anbarasu (Madhavan), an ad executive, get stuck together when their flight to Chennai is cancelled. They have to travel by train, bus, and taxi. Sivam is simple and cares about the poor, while Anbarasu is rich and wants comfort. They argue about everything: God, society, struggles, rich vs. poor, and money. Anbarasu complains about delays, saying even with money, India is uncomfortable. Sivam explains what democracy really means, saying people need self-discipline. The movie also tells Sivam's past love story. He loved Bala (Kiran Rathod), a factory owner's daughter. The workers were fighting for better pay from Bala's father, who was greedy. Sivam used street plays to support the workers. The movie shows real problems in relationships, even among people who care about social issues. Sivam and Bala's love story is like a classic one, with her father sending thugs to beat him up. However, the movie also shows why the factory owner reacted the way he did. Kamal Hassan has made a brilliant performance. Madhavan is a surprise package in the film. The other actors, Kiran Rathod, Santhanabarathi, Uma Riyaz, Nassar, and Seema, have contributed their parts very well. Anbe Sivam is a film you shouldn’t miss; it is a beautiful, feel-good film.
