Alangu follows Dharma (Gunanidhi), a young man from a Tamil tribal community who lives a simple life that is deeply connected to nature. His most loyal companion is his dog, Kaali, who always stays by his side. The plot begins when Dharma and his friends decide to cross the border and travel into Kerala to fulfill a personal wish related to his mother. It starts as a peaceful journey but soon turns into a violent nightmare. While traveling, the group accidentally crosses paths with powerful and ruthless political brothers who control the border area. These men, led by a local kingpin named Augustine (Chemban Vinod Jose), run illegal activities and use extreme violence to maintain their power. A small disagreement quickly escalates into a deadly conflict, forcing Dharma and his friends to flee for their lives into the thick forest. As the political gang traps them, the forest becomes a dangerous battlefield. Dharma uses his knowledge of the land and his natural instincts to protect his friends and his dog. The movie also highlights the real-world tensions and discrimination faced by tribal people when they cross state borders. With the help of a forest officer played by Sarath Sabha, Dharma fights back against the armed hunters.
