23 Iravai Moodu is a crime drama based on a true story. The movie follows Sagar (Teja R), a young man from a poor village. He wants to marry his girlfriend, Susheela (Tanmai Kushi), and start a small business. However, they have very little money and face many challenges from the people around them. The societal norms are different for different people and they are not able to make money. Sagar has a lot of unpaid loans and feels a lot of pressure to pay it back. To get cash quickly, he and his friend Das (Pawon Ramesh) decide to rob a bus. Their plan turns into a disaster. Sagar lights a matchstick that accidentally starts a fire. The bus burns down, and 23 passengers die. This terrible accident ruins Sagar’s life. Sagar is arrested and sent to prison. The story shows his life in jail, where he thinks about his mistake and the lives that were lost. He feels very guilty and burdened by the loss of 23 lives because of his carelessness. In prison, he meets different people and learns that the justice system can be very complicated. The film also stars Thagubothu Ramesh, Jhansi, and Pawon Ramesh.
