The story "Project Z" opens with the funeral of Dr. Pramodh, a renowned neurologist. Among the attendees is Dheena, a gym trainer whose connection to the deceased is unclear. Soon after, crime inspector Kumar witnesses Dheena murder his wife during a chase. In self-defence, Kumar kills Dheena—but the trauma leaves him shattered, and he seeks therapy from psychiatrist Aadhirai. After a short break, the sudden murder of an actress pushes Kumar to resume his investigation activities. Multiple clues begin to match one another by featuring identical blood evidence and the same cigarette products. During his investigation, Gopi reveals a larger plot to commit suicide. As the pieces slowly come together, Kumar is forced to confront a chilling question: is he solving the case—or is he part of it? Another murder occurs, this time involving a scientist, leading Kumar back to Pramodh. A senior official tells Kumar that Pramodh was working on an important project that could transfer memories from one person to another. The revelation shows that Pramodh applied this experiment to himself, leading to the transfer of his memories through various people. Kumar needs to uncover his prime suspects rapidly because the Army General Major appears at risk of becoming the next murder victim. The film creates uncertainty about whether Kumar can help before it is too late. The characters will face unseen effects from Pramodh's destructive technology. The final part builds to a powerful conflict situation while keeping audience members intensely engaged in their seats.
