Ramasamy is a poor boy in a small village. He is a potter. He and his mother struggled to earn enough to live. One night, Ramasamy saw a thief running away with one of the pots he had made. Being brave, Ramasamy ran after the thief to get his pot back. While he was chasing the thief, some surprising things happened. Because of these events, the villagers started to think that the pot the thief stole was a special charm from their village's protector God. Ramasamy didn't really believe in God himself. But he quickly saw how easily all the villagers obeyed anything they were told to do if it was in the name of God. He also noticed that they gave a lot of money and things as offerings to God. So, he decided to take advantage of their simple and trusting nature. He built a small temple on his land and used his stolen pot as the statue of the God. His plan worked, and Ramasamy started making a lot of money from the offerings. Years passed, and Ramasamy lived a comfortable life thanks to the money from his temple. Life was good until one day, the local tax officer, the Tahsildar (Tamizh), visited the temple. This Tahsildar was greedy and came up with an even smarter plan to make money. He wanted a big part of Ramasamy's dishonest earnings. He threatened Ramasamy with terrible things if he didn't give him what he wanted. But Ramasamy was not someone who would be easily scared by threats. The rest of the story is about how he deals with the Tahsildar and outsmarts him.
