The opening scene of Trigger is a brutal attack on the police commissioner's office. The man who planned this attack is Michael (Rahul Dev Shetty). He is behind bars already for a petty case and plans this operation from there. The year is 1993. Cut to the present; Prabhakaran (Atharvaa) is introduced. His father was once a police officer. He was forced to quit for a reason and is currently suffering from Alzheimer's disease. The city commissioner recruits Prabha into an undercover team to deal with cases extrajudicially. Prabha's brother and his wife decide to adopt a girl child. When that child is kidnapped, Prabha senses a child racket operation in the city. He digs further and suspects it could be linked to a case his father handled back then. When Michael comes to know that his plans are ruined, the cop and criminal battle starts. The story is written well. All characters are defined well. The actors have delivered a convincing performance. A degree of non-linear storytelling keeps the audience hooked to their seats. As both the hero and the villain throw electrifying performances, Trigger manages to keep the spark throughout. Tanya Ravichandran plays the love interest of Atharvaa. Other actors in the film include Arun Pandiyan, Chinni Jayanth, and Seetha. In short, Trigger is a thrilling action drama that can be watched with family.
