Viju Prasad (Fahadh Faasil) is a struggling motivational speaker in Kanyakumari. He lives with his mentally unstable brother Kunjan (Sreenath Bhasi). After Kunjan’s suicide, Viju becomes devastated and moves to Mumbai. There, he meets Kavitha (Nazriya Nazim), a casting director, who introduces him to two shady businessmen, Solomon Davis (Gautham Vasudev Menon) and Issac Thomas (Chemban Vinod Jose). They hire Viju to pose as a Christian pastor, Joshua Carlton, to perform fake miracles for profit. Trained by their associate Avarachan (Dileesh Pothan) in Kochi, Viju transforms into a charismatic preacher, gaining fame and wealth. His live TV miracles draw huge crowds, but the pressure and his own mental struggles push him into drug use. In suspecting Joshua’s instability, Solomon and Issac hire Esther Lopez (Vinayakan), a model with a troubled past, to monitor him. Esther grows close to Joshua, believing he is genuinely unwell, but is removed when she reports this. Joshua’s mental state worsens, blurring reality and hallucinations. He renegotiates his deal to keep 80% of the profits from a massive healing festival. Does Joshua get what he demands? How does he get out of the hold of Solomon and Issac? Who helps him overcome this hurdle? To know the answers, watch Trance.
