The Door follows the life of Mithra (Bhavana). She is a talented architect whose father, Advocate Rathnam (Nandhu), dies in a late-night road accident. She struggles a lot over the loss. To change her mood, her boss, Velmurugan (Jayaprakash), persuades her to return to work and supervise a high-profile construction project at a residential site in Kodaikanal. When Mithra arrives at the site, she immediately feels an unsettling presence. The project involves demolishing an old temple and surrounding structures to make way for luxury apartments. Soon, terrifying incidents begin to occur. Workers die in mysterious ways, and Mithra herself starts experiencing vivid hallucinations and hearing voices. She begins to feel the presence of a mother and a young girl who seem to be trying to communicate with her. A police officer named Raisudeen (Ganesh Venkatraman) investigates the deaths at the site. On the other hand, Mithra conducts her own search to find the truth. She gets help from a paranormal expert, Dr. Vishwa (Ramesh Arumugam) and her friend Shalini (Priya Venkat). Together, they find a dark secret from the 1990s. Mithra learns that the land was originally owned by a woman who was brutally murdered during a land-grab scam.
