Young hero Raj Tharun plays Rahul's role in the film, Stand Up Rahul. Rahul's passion is to be a stand-up comedian. His father, Murali Sharma, supports him and advises him to do what his heart says and likes. And Rahul's mother, Indraja, advises him to take steps ahead by thinking carefully about his future. Rahul's parents get separated right in his childhood. This leads Rahul to grow up staying with his single mother. Due to the separation of his parents and the atmosphere in which he grew up, Rahul's perspective on life changed drastically. He can never make proper decisions about many of the problems he faces. That may be his career, love or passion. He gets the opportunity to work in a graphics designing organisation in Hyderabad. His biggest challenge then is sticking on to that job safely. Rahul gets into the job and doesn't let go of his passion. He is into stand-up comedy in parallel to his job. His heart firmly tells him to go on entirely with his passion. But he's not courageous enough to put aside everything to continue with his passion. Rahul soon falls in love with his childhood friend Sriya, his current office colleague. Rahul is not interested in marriage. Sriya wants to win his love and thus agrees to get into a live-in relationship with Rahul. She encourages him to shape up into a better version of himself.
