Krishna Kumar (Raja Ravindra) is a middle-class lecturer. He lives a simple life with his wife, Lakshmi, their two sons, Arjun and Sai, and their daughter, Anupama (played by Yashaswini Srinivas). Krishna is known for his strong morals. However, he struggles with growing debts and his sons' complex behaviour. Arjun battles alcoholism and a past tragedy that haunts him, and Sai has trouble with his romantic relationship. Anupama is ambitious, but she faces unwanted attention from a persistent suitor named Raju. The family's life takes a turn when a shocking secret about Anupama is revealed, shaking their traditional family setup. Krishna has a tough time facing societal judgment, caste and gender stigmas. On the other hand, Lakshmi strongly supports Anupama's dreams. This discovery connects to a larger network involving millionaire Batley, Fathima, and college head Murthy. Arjun's self-destructive habits worsen, and Sai's impulsive actions further complicate matters, pushing the family closer to chaos. As Krishna faces personal and work difficulties, the family deals with public scrutiny and internal conflicts. Anupama's strong desire to follow an unconventional path inspires change. However, she faces increasing challenges from dangerous men and societal taboos. The crux of the story is how the family protects their honour and supports Anupama's dreams. Overall, Sarangadhariya is a good film that conveys a powerful social message.
