Sagara Sangamam is an excellent movie with authenticity, simplicity and self-conviction.Balakrishna is a financially backward but versatile dancer, proficient in Indian classical dances such as Kuchipudi, Bharatanatyam, Kathak, etc. Madhavi, a wealthy young woman and dance patron, notices his talent and acts as a listener, helping him get an opportunity to participate in a high-profile classical dance festival.Balu's elderly mother dies two days before his performance; he becomes mentally depressed and fails to participate in the dance festival. However, Madhavi supports and encourages him and helps him recover. As their relationship grows, Balu gradually develops a fondness for Madhavi. He hides his love for her. Madhavi also shares the feelings. Balu learns that she is already married but separated from her husband, so Balu decides to sacrifice his love out of respect. As the years pass, a frustrated Balu becomes an inconsolable drunkard and a newspaper journalist/art critic. Once, he criticizes a dancer, Shailaja, for her lack of concentration on her appearance and for not caring much about the audience, resulting in a fight between them. Madhavi reads this article, who becomes Shailaja's mother and loses her husband. She learns about Balu, his medical condition, and his undying love for her and her family. What happens next is the movie...The direction of great k.Vishwanath is flawless, and the dialogues by Jhandhyala are immortal. The music of this movie remains popular until this very day. Kamal Hassan portrays Balakrishna so well that it's hard to imagine anyone else in his place.Jayapradha(as Madhavi) is stunningly beautiful and a pleasure to the eyes.
