Saala tells the story of Saala (Dheeran), a man who wants to get back the Parvathy Bar for Guna (Aruldoss), the gangster who raised him. Guna took in Saala as a boy after he saved Guna's life. Now, Saala faces Thangadurai (Charles Vinoth), a cruel man who also wants the bar. Punitha (Reshma Venkatesh), a social worker, fights against liquor shops near schools and hospitals. Saala wants to open his bar again, but Thangadurai doesn't want that. Punitha fights against alcohol, and at first, Saala doesn't like that. But then he sees how much she cares for kids without parents, and he starts helping her. Thangadurai starts selling illicit alcohol through Saala's bars, which causes trouble. The movie then shows the fight over the bar and how dangerous it is when alcohol is sold illegally. Saala's personal life is also affected. Saala is a typical action movie with some romance. It has familiar scenes of gang fights and bar brawls. Director Manipaul makes it interesting. Dheeran plays Saala well, and his strong build fits the role. Reshma Venkatesh is sincere as Punitha. Aruldoss shows his acting range. Srinath, as Saala's friend, adds humour. Charles Vinoth and Sampath Ram are the other actors who give good performances. Saala is an entertaining watch.
