Inspector Prabhakaran (Vikram Prabhu) is a strict police officer. He plans to make his city a crime-free one. He wants to get rid of all the gangsters in Chennai. He starts a big fight against two brutal gangsters, Daali and Chitte. These two control the city's markets with the help of their boss, Uncle. During a police operation to catch Uncle's helper, Baby, Prabhakaran catches Daali's brother, Cockroach, and kills him in a fight. Daali and Chitte become very angry. They and their men shoot Prabhakaran while he is jogging in the morning. Prabhakaran's girlfriend, Venba (Sri Divya), is also killed by accident in the shooting. Prabhakaran becomes depressed after Venba's death. He decides to take revenge on the killers. He starts hunting down and killing Daali's friends, including Chitte. Prabhakaran finds out that Venba's sister, Venmathi, was caught by the police in Goa during a raid. He immediately goes to Goa and saves Venmathi. Daali learns that Prabhakaran is trying to kill him. So, Daali sends a henchman to kill Prabhakaran. However, Prabhakaran fights back and kills these attackers. He also crashes Daali's birthday party. Prabhakaran and Daali fight each other without weapons. The fight sequences are shot well and appear realistic. Finally, Prabhakaran kills Daali, getting revenge for Venba's death. After this, Prabhakaran goes on to solve another crime. Overall, Raid is an interesting watch for action movie lovers.
