Pranayam 1947 follows Shivan (Kozhikode Jayaraj), a widower who works as a helper at an old-age home. He lives a simple life and is known for his kind nature. Gauri Teacher (Leela Samson), a retired schoolteacher, arrives at the old-age home. She feels lonely and abandoned because her son refuses to take her back to her own house. Gauri finds it hard to adjust to the rules of the home, but she soon finds comfort in Shivan's friendship.
