Neela Nira Sooriyan follows the journey of Aravind (Samyuktha Vijayan). From a young age, Aravind struggles with feelings about identity and gender but hides these emotions because of society’s expectations and fear of rejection. Later, Aravind works as a teacher and continues to live a quiet life. However, family members force him to get married and live a traditional life. Aravind confronts the truth about personal identity. After a lot of thinking, Aravind chooses to live openly and honestly. He decides to begin a gender transition and starts living as Bhanu. The decision brings major changes. Bhanu faces difficult reactions from family, colleagues and society. Many people around Bhanu struggle to understand the transition, and others openly oppose it. At the school where Bhanu teaches, the administration and staff are not sure of how to respond to Bhanu’s new identity. The only support Bhanu receives is from Haritha (Semmalar Annam). She stands by Bhanu and encourages courage and self-acceptance. With her support, Bhanu slowly begins to rebuild life and confidence while learning to face the world honestly. The rest of the story is about Bhanu's personal struggles, facing social judgment and emotional pain while trying to maintain dignity and purpose.
