in the movie needa,John Baby, a judge, meets with an accident and starts wearing a protective mask on their face. He starts experiencing hallucinations. An eight-year-old boy, Nitin, shares the story of a murder with his friends at school. John gets interested in this and visits Sharmila, the single mother of that boy. John gets enthusiastic and visits the location mentioned by Nitin along with a Police team. They find the skull of a human at the bottom of the pond in that location. The same repeats with yet another story narrated by Nitin. John goes through the files of Sharmila’s late husband Sachin, who was a professional investigator, to find out if the stories were passed on from his side. One night, John notices Nitin being told the murder stories by Sharmila while she is asleep. Baby starts enquiring about Sharmila’s past and learns about her mother and her stepfather, Viswanathan, a politician. In reality, Viswanathan had done all those murders and was confessing to Sharmila’s mother while she was putting infant Sharmila to sleep. The stories got into Sharmila’s subconscious mind. Viswanathan, who is hospitalised, escapes and attempts to kill Sharmila and Nitin, as they know about the murders he committed. Sharmila finds out that Viswanathan has also killed her mother, as she had known about his crimes. John comes in time and saves Sharmila and Nitin. Viswanathan dies by falling down from the balcony in the struggle. After successfully completing his investigation, John gets rid of his hallucinations. But surprisingly, hallucinations start for Sharmila.
