In the movie "Kajal Karthika", Umayal becomes restless from the prolonged lockdown at home during COVID, so she accepts Kajal's suggestion to see Anand's new library collection because she enjoys reading. Umayal finds a book called 'Katuka Bottu' featuring actual-life stories of magical events. The unknown author creates a mystery that makes Umayal ask Kajal for help identifying. Umayal discovers through reading the book that much of the narrative contains historical facts intermixed with storytelling. The fourth tale is about Karthika, a respected person in her village during British rule. She gains influence in her community by being kind and helpful to everyone. The villagers start blaming Karthika for witchcraft after several strange deaths, including her husband's, and the disappearance of children in the village. The false accusations compel Karthika to leave her home and community forever. The man responsible for all the murders is Karthika's brother-in-law, who plots to wrongly pin the blame on her to steal her father's wealth. She vows to one day come back and exact revenge upon everyone who caused her harm. Karthika's story causes unsettling events to start happening inside Umayal's personal life. She tells Kajal about her shocking experiences. In her state of shock, Kajal reveals that the person who wrote the note is actually Karthika. The revelation creates questions about Umayal's connection to Karthika. Did Karthika possess the power to foresee what could happen in her future? Umayal displays powers that are similar to those demonstrated by Karthika. Umayal listens to Kajal's advice and writes a silly thought to see if the message will manifest as truth. An unexplained presence appears, creating a frightening end while laughter fills the air.
