Dandupalyam 1 is an engaging crime film. It is the Telugu-dubbed version of the Kannada movie "Dandupalya". The 2012 film was directed by Srinivasa Raju and received critical acclaim and commercial success. It is based on a real story about the infamous Dandupalya gang, which terrorised parts of Karnataka in the late 1990s. The narrative offers chilling details of the gang's gruesome robberies, rapes, and murders. The gang is led by Lakshmi (Pooja Gandhi) and Krishna (Makarand Deshpande); their modus operandi involves Lakshmi identifying houses where women or the elderly live alone. She would then approach the house asking for water, and once the resident went inside, the rest of the gang, including members like Hanuma (Ravi Kale), would enter. Following the break-in, the gang would commit brutal acts of violence, including rape and murder. They would then loot the house before escaping. Of all the members, Kirshna would enjoy killing the victims by slitting their throats. The film highlights the terror the gang instilled and the challenges faced by law enforcement. As the terror activities increase, the entire police force is challenged. Inspector Chalapathi (P. Ravi Shankar) steps in and is determined to track down and capture this elusive gang, which leaves little to no evidence behind. The narrative focuses on his uncompromising quest and the disturbing reality of the gang's blatant crimes. "Dandupalyam 1" is known for its stark realism and graphic depiction of violence.
