Bell Bottom is the Telugu-dubbed version of a Kannada film. The story is set in the 1980s in Karnataka. Divakar (Rishab Shetty) is a police constable with dreams of being a detective. He idolises spy novels and films. Pressured by his father, a senior constable, Divakar joins the police force but always looks for bigger cases. When recovered goods mysteriously vanish from the police station, the inspectors task Divakar with solving the robbery. Excited, he dives in, adopting the name “Detective Divakar.” With help from Constable Qureshi, he suspects a local bootlegger and interrogates him, learning about a suspicious figure, Sagani Pinto, but hits dead ends. During the investigation, Divakar falls for Kusuma (Haripriya), who sells illicit liquor. He gets clues pointing to blind priests trained for theft and learns Kusuma visits the station during robberies, claiming a stolen marks card. Divakar’s cousin, Inspector Sunil, shares details of a robbery bust, but the goods still disappear despite tight security. Piecing it together, Divakar realises Annappa is the mastermind. He commits thefts to get money for his revenge against Chamanlal Seth. This merchant wants the land where the Ashakirana orphanage is located. The orphanage is known for making bell-bottom pants. Seth, with the help of the police, made the children leave the orphanage, which made Annappa start stealing. Divakar has to choose between doing his job as a policeman and being loyal to his family. In the end, Divakar solves the case, gets the girl he likes, Kusuma, and makes things right. Overall, Bell Bottom is a good film to enjoy watching with family.
