Bhaskaran (Suraj Venjaramoodu) is an old-fashioned widower in a village. He lives with his son Subramanian (Soubin Shahir), a mechanical engineer. When Subramanian gets a job in Russia, Bhaskaran refuses to join him, because he hates modern technology and change. Subramanian is worried about leaving his father alone, so he brings home an AI humanoid robot to care for his dad. He names it Kattappa. Bhaskaran is a tough person. He does not accept change readily. He doesn't like the robot. He always mocks the robot, but its helpfulness slowly wins him over. The robot cooks meals for him and keeps him company. Meanwhile, Subramanian falls for a half-Japanese woman in Russia. However, Bhaskaran does not agree to their marriage due to cultural differences. In the village, Bhaskaran’s bond with Kattappa leads to funny moments and gossip, especially with his neighbours. As Bhaskaran softens, treating Kattappa like family, the robot does not function well, causing chaos. Subramanian returns to fix things. He faces issues with his dad over the robot and his relationship. Ultimately, father and son understand each other and their bond becomes strong. Bhaskaran understands that love can bridge tradition and technology. To know how Bhaskaran embraces change and accepts his son’s choices, watch Android Kattappa.
